Miners Castle Point

A beautiful scenic overlook and a popular spot in Pictured Rocks. Definitely worth stopping to view but be aware that there are heights involved. Have any children safe and pets on a leash when near the cliffs. Definitely worth seeing and not too much walking involved for this overview. If you’re headed to Miners Castle I also highly recommend Miners Falls (again, there are heights involved with the overlooks at this location) and Miners Beach- one of my favorite beaches in the area (but there are many good ones!). There are quite a few stairs to climb at Miners Beach. Miners Falls involves a short hike in to get to the falls from the parking lot.

Chapel Rock

If you are into hiking, I highly recommend this day hike in PRNL. In the summers the trails will be busy, so I’d advise arriving to the trailhead early. It’s a very beautiful and memorable hike. It will be a 6 mile round trip hike, so plan accordingly for water, snacks, clothing and bug repellent. The trail is usually muddy, so something to keep in mind. You could make the hike a little longer by doing the “Chapel Loop” which is about a 10 mile hike (this is great with gorgeous views if you love hiking). You will need a PRNL park pass that you can either buy in person at the main office, or you can buy it online and print it off before you arrive. The photos included are from when I did the loop hike a couple years ago.

Valley Spur

In the winter this is a wonderful cross country skiing trail system (a snowshoe trail as well). In the summer there are great single track mountain bike trails here. I’d also recommend Bruno’s Run trail system if you’re into mountain biking.

In the winter this is a wonderful cross country skiing trail system (a snowshoe trail as well). In the summer there are great single track mountain bike trails here. I’d also recommend Bruno’s Run trail system if you’re into mountain biking.
